A Day of Pink

today we are commemorating
deena's journey
that began a year ago today.
i am walking in the Arizona 3-Day
November 14-16
along with my brother and his daughter.
we walk in memory or our mother/grandmother
Juanita.....thus our team name "Juanita's Kids".
the 3-Day is a journey
of 20 miles each day for 3 days
and we sleep in tents each night.
we raise at least $2200.00 for the privilege to walk
and
net proceeds benefit
Susan G. Komen for the Cure
and National Philanthropic Trust.
each year our team designs shirts
to tell who we are
and why we walk.....

today, in Support of Deena's Journey,
i would love to invite each one of you who comments
to leave the name of a loved one or two who has been affected by this disease.
please let me know if i would be walking
In Memory.....In Honor .....or In Support
of them.

i will be then taking the names
and making a transfer template
and wearing that shirt one of the three days we walk,
i would love to walk not only for my loved ones,
but yours as well.

please click and feel free to visit!

road trip

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
the family is going on a road trip
to my favorite place:
the ocean....
so we can:
smell the ocean air
feel the breeze
hear the waves
see the sun on the water
build sand castles
look for shells
and all kinds of sea creatures :)
let some grandkids catch their first glimpse of this amazing place
and others to revisit it
play
relax
enjoy time together
and God's creation
hope you all have a wonderful week also!
p.s. a year ago today, bryan had his surgery....
i am so thankful
he is
happy
and
healthy!

a month from today

a month from today
i will be participating in my 3rd
Breast Cancer 3-Day
November 14-16, 2008
20 miles each day
60 miles total
raising a minimum of $2200.00
with the generous support
of wonderful friends, family, neighbors
and a great garage sale!

i walked 16 miles this past Sunday
my dear husband walked 8 of those with me.
we met jamie and matt at our sweet coffee shop
and they took bryan home after breakfast
and i walked home. :)
the weather was absolutely heavenly
and the walk was wonderful
let's hope the cool weather continues
for the rest of training and the actual walk.

this year i will be walking again with my brother...
and his daughter is also walking this year
we also have a cousin walking on another team
we all walk for one purpose:
a world without Breast Cancer
and as i saw on another blog this morning
for
"when pink is just a color again"

it's over!

well, i had my yearly garage sale
to raise funds for my Breast Cancer 3-Day
and it is over!!!!
i have this weird thing about garage sales....
i get anxiety over them
or at least i have in the past...
to the point that i can't sleep the night before!
my girls and family can't quite understand
what the big deal is about....
you put your stuff out
people look at it
and they buy it......
i think my anxiety goes back to when i sold tupperware....
i was always afraid i would show up to sell it and no one would come to the party!
anyway...
i made great strides this year....
i actually slept the night before our sale...
not one ounce of anxiety.
guess i'm not going to need therapy for it after all!

October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Tell me I will forget

Show me I will remember

Involve me I will understand

today is october 1st
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

since my girls, cory and jessamyn
walked the Breast Cancer 3-Day in 2005
and participating in them myself the last three years,
i have noticed that Breast Cancer awareness
is every month.
there isn't a month goes by
that i am not made aware of this disease.
we are made aware
by the many people we know or hear of who's lives
have been affected by this disease
and by the efforts we can be involved in to help make a difference
i do know being involved does make a difference
it makes you more aware
it makes you more mindful
at least it has for me.
you can click here and here
to find out more....
and for those here in arizona
you can click here and find out about fundraisers.
