special times

lately, we have tried to do a few "special" things with each one of the grandchildren.
we watch them regularly....and that is great...but they usually need to fit into our schedule during those times.....
it started with taking brody and wyatt to the circus
then i had the faerie tea for journey
papa took asher to the dinosaur museum
and then we took milo to the kids museum
little clay just thinks crawling around the house is special for right now!!!!
i thought i'd share a few more photos of our special times
(papa took photos of asher, but that camera is not cooperating right yet!)

papa and milo with his dino souvenir

he loved driving the car....until this little gal said he needed to share!!! :-)

grocery shopping was a big hit

so many products to choose from!

playing in the sand

the climbing apparatus was amazing and he loved it!!!
this museum is just wonderful and divided into age appropriate areas!

gotta have a souvenir ya know!

just watchin the show

got to ride the elephant....all by their very own selves
without papa or nonnie!

.....and the ponies

he really did have fun...i promise! :-)

(and his auntie)

it has really been fun getting to share these special times with these amazing little ones....
we look forward to many more!!!
and we are anxiously awaiting grandbaby #7

Tea for Two

i have been telling journey,
our only granddaughter (to-date),
that we needed to have a TEA.
things got hectic and the TEA was put aside
but journey often talked about it.......
so finally nonnie got it together
and journey and i had
a
FAERIE TEA PARTY
and it was so much fun!

this was her invitation sent through the mail

i made faerie dolls and a faerie house
and i had almost too much fun doing it!!!!!

i set it up out on our patio
as the weather has cooled off now

and had scrumptious food fit for a faerie tea party
(nonnie had hot tea but journey wanted "pretend tea")
although she did enjoy the sugar cubes!!!!!

october

“There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on,
and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October”
~Nathaniel Hawthorne

i love the month of october....
just something about it
that heightens the senses
and brings fresh hopes & awakened perspective~
a little shedding of extra baggage
and being free.
happy october all!

another one bites the dust

the other day
brody and nonnie
were on a mission!
we went to find a
WISH BOOK

but alas
after going to 3 different stores
it looks like the wish book
is extinct

and i was so sad.
brody would have been....but he really doesn't even know what a wish book is

when our kids were growing up, it would arrive in the mail
(only one to share between 5 children was quite a trick)
and our five girls
~ poured over the pages of that book for the next 2 months
~earmarking pages
~drawing circles around things that made their eyes sparkle
~writing comments next to their wishes to make sure we understood

and then, of course, they used it as a reference when they wrote their letters to Santa.

it was, looking back, such a fun tradition
and something that entertained our girls for hours and they bonded over

i guess with online everything these days....it wasn't necessary any more
and it was probably costly
but some things are worth the cost
little did i know what emotions it would stir in me .....
to have to TELL brody about this special book
instead of him experiencing it....

and i am sure i am in for more changes as time marches on....
guess i'll just have to sit them all around the computer and take them on a cyber wish trip!!!

super fans

growing up
one of the comics in our daily paper was
spiderman.

my mom was a huge fan....
(she also loved judge parker and mary worth)
so much so
that when she passed away
we laid my mother to rest with one of her purses
(she was NEVER without her purse)
and in that purse
(along with many other things my mama was known for)
we included a spiderman comic strip

brody and wyatt
are huge fans of spiderman

they never met their grandma gg

but i think
they would have
been a huge fan or hers too.

relief

the last magazine i read suggested that instead of buying a fall wreathe
that i go outside and use the "fall" foliage outdoors.....
well obviously they don't live in the desert!

but today
we opened the door
and were greeted with
cool temperatures
that have just been a memory for the past months.
pure relief and a happy thankful heart!

so the leaves may not change
and i will most likely have to buy a fall wreathe,
but change is coming
and it feels good!
